FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: mandrel, which is loaded by an air cylinder, is mounted in the spindle of a machine- tool. The load is transmitted to the mandrel from the rod of the air cylinder through a cushion whereto compressed air is supplied through the passageway in the rod of the piston. Between the cushion and mandrel an aerostatic force occurs which acts on the mandrel. In so doing, a space keeps between the mandrel and cushion. The load exerted on the mandrel may either be constant or vary. The loading is controlled with a feedback pickup. Radial dynamic rigidity is measured with two contactless pickups. EFFECT: improved design. 2 dwg
