FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reducing metal ore smelt including combination process wherein metal ores are partially reduced in one ore several steps and then completely reduced into metal in smelt reactor. Combination process involves at least three process units and smelt reactor forms one process unit. Partially reducing metal ores is fulfilled in at least two subsequent process units. Different exhausted gas is produced in each of these at least three process units. Gas produced in the final reduction and melting step (A) is afterburnt to 50-80% and then conveyed into heating and/or initial reduction step (B) where it is subjected to complete afterburning and is removed from the process. Ore reduction degrees in step B and intermediate reduction step (C) are equal to 0-30 and 30-70%, respectively. In B and C steps coal is used, in B step coal being supplied in excessive amount providing formation of reduction gas owing to burning away a part of it and heating remaining part to strip off volatile component and produce coke. Components to be fed into melting step are preheated. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 10 cl, 1 dwg
