FIELD: metallurgy, namely, processes for producing metals and metal alloys from ores and partially reduced ores in metallurgical reactor. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preparing melt bath containing metal and slag, injecting carrying gas and solid carbon-containing material and(or) metal oxides and(or) other solid material through portion in reactor lateral wall contacting with melt bath and(or) from upwards over melt bath. Injection of carrying gas and solid carbon-containing material provides throwing out of particles of melt and slag into space over melt bath for creating transition zone. Injection of oxygen-containing gas into space over melt bath provides afterburning of reaction gases. Apparatus for performing the method includes metallurgical reactor for melt bath having bottom, lateral walls, gas duct and two tuyeres. First tuyere serves for injecting oxygen containing gas into space over melt bath. Second tuyere is arranged in portion of reactor lateral wall and serves for injecting carrying gas and solid carbon-containing material and(or) metal oxides and (or) other solid material into space over melt bath for creating transition zone. Said zone provides possibility of raising and descending particles of metal and slag. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of method, improved design of apparatus. 16 cl, 2 dwg
