FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ceramic proppants intended for use as proppants when producing oil or gas by hydraulic fracturing. Method involves preparation of initial charge components, in form of magnesium silicate raw material—dunite, olivinite and/or serpentinite, their grinding, charge granulation and firing. Charge additionally contains clay. After preliminary burning of initial mixture in temperature range 950–1150 °C is milled and abraded with subsequent granulation on water, containing organic binder based on carboxymethyl cellulose and sodium tripolyphosphate. Further, dried granules are dried and screened to obtain a granule fraction of 1–1.2 mm, after which the obtained granulate fractions are fired at temperature of 1300–1400 °C.

EFFECT: method provides production of magnesium-silicate proppant with high operational characteristics from cheap and available natural raw material.
