FIELD: production of electrodes for reduction of aluminium, production of calcium carbide, electric iron, ferroalloys and phosphorus. SUBSTANCE: continuous self-baking electrode is produced of a compound containing a carbon filler, 6 to 20% of binder of the filler mass (phenolic novolack resign with a minimum melting point of 100 C and content of free phenol of not more than 4 mass percent), 20 to 50% of plasticizer of the filler mass (ethylene glycol, triethylene glycol or M-pyrrole). Up to 5% of hexamethylenetetramine of the binder mass may be introduced in the compound. The compound is moved through the zone of electrode formation with production of viscous mass, advanced through the baking zone.
