FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: iron-aluminum alloy with 12-14 wt % Al is prepared by melting, pouring melt into band with cooling rate 104-105 oC/s according to double-roll scheme, cold rolling with 5-20% reduction, high-temperature annealing of rolled band in vacuum at 1100-1200 C for 1-2 h, and subsequent cooling of rolled band to 800- 850 C with rate 50-100 C/min. Thickness of thus obtained band is 0.15- 0.25 mm, saturation magnetostriction ~70.106 achieved in magnetic fields 40-100 Oersted. Band exhibits sufficient plasticity ( δ~5% ) that enables its coiling, cutting, and stamping. EFFECT: increased saturation magnetostriction of alloy. 3 cl, 1 tbl
