FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: alloy contains components in the following quantities, wt.%: carbon, 0.04-0.1; phosphorus, 0.02-0.2; sulfur, 0.05-0.5; aluminum, 7-14; at least one element from the group: germanium, 0.1-0.5; silicon, 0.1-0.5; iron, the balance. Technical effect from use of the offered alloy consists in stable high values of magnetostrictive saturation of λs≥ 65-90x10-6 by producing textured strip 0.15-0.40 mm thick with 90 deg domain structure formed due to directed stresses resulting in separation of aluminum carbides. The required ductility (δ~ 3-5%) of magnetostrictive strip containing 9-14 wt.% of aluminum is ensured by rapid quenching of melt on metal surface at cooling rate of 104-105 C/s. Manufactured from produced strip with resonant frequency of 21 and 26 kHz; they are successfully competitive with analogous transducers made from permedur (alloy 49K2F).
