FIELD: controlled nuclear fusion; neutralizing, shaping, conveying, and separating charged particle beams; ion-beam technology; isotope separation and plasma heating in traps. SUBSTANCE: for neutralizing spatial charge of positive ion beam, free electrons and electrically negative molecules or atoms possessing high affinity for electron and large sections of formation of negative ions during collision with free electrons are introduced in it. Free electron flow and flow of electrically negative molecules or atoms are maintained at such level that density of positive charge beam at least does not exceed that of its negative charge, electrons contained in it, and negative ions formed in the process. EFFECT: improved stability of high-perveance beam charge neutralization, transportation, and separation. 4 cl, 1 dwg
