FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, methods of conduction of heat in electric arc furnaces. SUBSTANCE: heat is conducted on DC and AC. During melting down of charge, well is formed in charge on DC to obtain volume of free space sufficient for location of electrodes therein. Then melting of charge is carried out on AC by means of electrodes sunk into well. Liquid periods of melting are also conducted on AC. EFFECT: increased rate of metal heating, furnace capacity and reduced specific consumption of power. 5 dwg
