FIELD: hair cutting devices. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has laser device disposed within casing and adapted to generate light beam falling onto hair to be cut and capable of destroying hair. Construction of laser device allows radiation wave length to be selected such that light beam is effectively absorbed by hair intended for cutting, while individual's skin tissue does not absorb light beam or slightly absorbs it, with only hair of predetermined color tint range absorbing light beam radiation. Method involves directing laser beam in parallel with individual's skin surface. Laser beam destroys only hairs exposed to radiation, with portion of hairs on skin surface being left in unburnt state.
