SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment. Hair cutting device on the subject comprises a light emission source for generating light radiation at one or more specific wavelengths corresponding to wavelengths absorbed by one or more chromophores in hair or on hair, cutting element comprising an optical waveguide connected at a first end to a light emission source for receiving light radiation, wherein a portion of the side wall of the optical waveguide forms a cutting surface for contact with hair, and a control unit connected to the light radiation source, wherein the control unit is configured to change during operation the power of the light radiation generated by the light emission source, between the first and second power levels, such that when the hair is heated by radiation coming from the contact point on the cutting surface and penetrating into the hair, temperature of point of contact on cutting surface is maintained below glass transition temperature of optical waveguide, wherein first power level is higher than second power level.
EFFECT: disclosed is a device for cutting hair and a method of controlling a device for cutting hair.
