DEVICE FOR EMERGENCY SHUTTING-OFF OF PIPELINE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: safety fittings for pipelines; pressure gas lines. SUBSTANCE: device has body with inlet and outlet branch pipes. Body is provided with shut-off member and sensitive element located beyond inner section of pipeline. They are made as integral unit in the form of swivel damper. Working chamber of sensitive element is brought in communication with cavity of pipeline. Damper may be fixed in open position. Three versions of keeping the damper in open position are proposed: by means of magnet of mechanical latch and by gravity. Magnitudes of projections on axis of damper of vector of moment of force holding the damper in open position and vectors of moment of lift force acting on damper under working conditions of flow of gas in pipeline and in emergency flow of gas in pipeline are connected by mathematic relationship. Damper may be sectional, i.e. it may consist of two parts connected by means of flexible coupling. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of shutting off pipelines in case of emergency loss of tightness; improved locating of explosive products. 5 cl, 2 dwg
