FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, melting of steel in converter. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging into converter of liquid iron and scrap, blowing of melt with oxygen in two periods from atop through lance with its motion along converter in blowing relative to melt. In the course of blowing, supplied to melt is mixture of lime and dolomite with consumption of 30-50 kg per ton of steel and 20-50 kg per ton of steel, respectively. 60-80% of mixture total weight is supplied during the first blowing period amounting to 20-30% of the total duration of blowing. Remaining 20-40% of mixture total weight is supplied during the second period of time remaining to the end of blowing. Ratio of distances of lances to melt level in still state during the first period of blowing to the same distance during the second period of blowing is preset within 1.1-1.2. Besides, supplied to melt together with mixture is converter slag. Consumption of mixture of lime with converter slag equals to 32-70 kg per ton of steel. Percentage of converter slag in mixture with lime is preset within 5-45%. EFFECT: higher stability of converter refractory lining and converter productivity. 2 cl, 1 tbl
