FIELD: mechanical engineering; materials handling. SUBSTANCE: belt conveyor has drive, driving and tension drums installed on shafts, belt passed over drums and main tensioning device mechanically coupled with conveyor driving shaft. Driving drum is installed for longitudinal displacement along conveyor axis. Additional tensioning device is made in form of connecting rods hinge-mounted on shaft of driving drum, and cranks hinge-connected with connecting rods and installed on base by means of axles. It has system of gear wheels, brake pulley, brake band secured for engagement with brake pulley and adjustment of tension, and stops for cranks mounted on base. Some gear wheels are rigidly mounted on driving drum shaft, others are freely fitted in connecting rods, third ones are rigidly mounted on cranks by means of shafts, fourth ones are freely fitted on axles of cranks and fifth ones are rigidly fitted on drive shaft. Brake band is installed by means of resilient members and some limiting stops are made adjustable. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 2 dwg
