FIELD: high-strength rails from high-carbon perlitic steels featuring high strength and wear resistance designed for railroad rails and industrial units and methods of their production. SUBSTANCE: rails from perlitic steel featuring high strength, wear resistance, ductility and impact strength are produced by special rolling to form fine-grain perlitic blocks in steel. Steel contains 0.60 to 1.20% of carbon, 0.10- 1.20% of silicon, 0.40-1.50% of manganese and one or more elements from group including chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, niobium and cobalt that are responsible for imparting to steel of high wear resistance and elongation of, at least, 12%, and impact strength not below 25 J/sq.cm. High-carbon rails featuring high wear resistance, ductility and impact strength guarantee safety of railroad service in cold regions. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 8 cl, 1 dwg , 4 tbl
