FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves exposing an area on intact dental tissue to helium-neon laser radiation through multiple-strand two-channel light guide. Reflected signal spectrum is recorded and intact tooth area fluorescence index (Ji) is determined. Jp fluorescence index is determined in the same way in all pathologically changed areas. Jp/Ji value being greater than 1 ± 0.2, active caries process and/or supra- or subgingival dental deposit case are diagnosed. Treatment is continued until Jp/Ji =1 ± 0.2, that is, until the whole injured area is removed. To evaluate canal cleaning effectiveness degree, Je as fluorescence index is measured on intact tooth dentin. Then fluorescence indexes are measured on canal entrance, its middle part and exit area, respectively. Normalized index Jk1,Jk2,Jk3 is determined. Treatment is continued until K1= Jk1/Jэ,K2= Kk2/Jэ,K3= Jk3/Jэ.. The treatment being of low quality, K1=K2=K3=1±0,2. indexes are higher then Je value in intact area due to high concentration of fluorescent microflora available in the injured area Ji.
