FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of electroarc facing cylindrical surfaces of rims and hubs of rolled centres of locomotive wheels of medium carbon steel for elimination of process and extension of service life. Said technical result is achieved due to that in method of arc welding rolled centres of locomotive wheels from medium carbon steels centres wheel rolled or parts thereof are preheated and build-up is carried out with further cooling, heating is performed with transistor high-frequency induction heater and build-up is carried out with welding wire of following composition, wt%: carbon - 0.04-0.08; silicon - 0.20-0.40; manganese - 1.00-1.40; chrome - 0.70-1.00; molybdenum 0.50-0.80; vanadium - 0.15-0.30; iron - balance.
EFFECT: technical result of invention is obtaining flawless weld joint with built-up metal, close on their mechanical properties, primarily, hardness, to parent metal centres.
