FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, steel melting in converters. SUBSTANCE: during tapping of the next heat from converter, 10-30 wt.-% of melt and all slag of the previous heat are left in converter. Added to remaining melt is carbon-containing material in fraction of 10-50 mm in the amount of 30-50 kg per ton of tapped heat. Melt is blown with oxygen from atop at flow rate of 6-10 cu. m/t.min for 1-3 min. The first portion of solid iron charge is added in the amount of 10-30 wt.-% of tapped heat. Melt is blown with oxygen from atop at flow rate of 4-8 cu.m/t.min for 3-8 min and portion of carbon-containing materials is concurrently added in the amount of 40-60 kg per ton of tapped heat. The second portion of iron charge is added in the amount of 30-50 wt.-% of tapped heat. Melt is blown from atop with oxygen at flow rate of 2-6 cu.m/t.min for 6-24 min with simultaneous portion addition of carbon-containing materials in the amount of 50-70 kg per ton of tapped heat. The last portion of iron charge is added in the amount of 40-60 wt.-% of tapped heat. Melt is blown from atop with oxygen at flow rate of 2-6 cu.m/t. min for 5-10 min with simultaneous portion addition of carbon-containing materials in the amount of 40-60 kg per ton of tapped heat. 50-70% of formed slag is flushed. Introduced up to the end of heat are slag-forming materials and melt is blown from atop with oxygen at flow rate of 2-6 cu.m/t.min.
