FIELD: manufacture of engines; control of engine power due to change of displacement volume. SUBSTANCE: at first stage when load is increased, fuel metering control member is turned together with actuating lever connected with fuel metering device within first preset angle, thus increasing the cycle feed of fuel to cylinders. At second stage when rise of load is continued, fuel metering control member is turned together with actuating lever within limits of second preset angle, thus increasing the cycle feed of fuel to cylinders and ensuring connection between actuating lever and cylinder displacement change mechanism due to which displacement volume is increased at respective correction of compression ratio. When load is decreased, action of fuel metering control member is effected in reverse order.
