FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: with engine operating at no-load or low load, delayed closing of intake valves and earlier closing of exhaust valves, as compared with standard values, is provided by signals from control unit. At mean loads, delivery of fuel and swept volume of cylinders is increased, and delayer closing of intake valve and earlier closing of exhaust valves, at compared with no-load and low-load conditions, are provided. Under conditions close to rated and under rated operating conditions, delivery of fuel and swept volume of cylinders are increased, as compared with mean load conditions, and timing phases of exhaust valves are returned to standard value, and timing phases of exhaust valves are returned to standard value, and timing phase of intake valves are returned to standard value for engine with spar, ignition or are changed to provide incomplete intake of fresh charge for engine with compression ignition. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of output power regulation, reduced toxicity of exhaust gases by decreasing nitrogen oxide content in gases. 6 cl, 22 dwg
