FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: present invention describes method of preparing porous glass materials with bulk density of 100-300 mg/cubic cm and reduced hydrogen sulfide emission. The claimed method melting blend consisting of in reducing atmosphere. Prior to melting operation, content is adjusted to 3-8 wt % in blend, and silicate portion of melt is cooled in thermal shock mode by pouring into aqueous zinc salt solution having concentration of 0.2-0.5 g/l. Reduced hydrogen sulfide emission below the permissible limit allows for more use. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method.
