FIELD: measurement technology, systems for automatic control and regulation of parameters of technological process. SUBSTANCE: method lies in formation of first and second probing pulses along two specified directions. Information on value of monitored medium is formed in the form of two sequences of acoustic signals. Device for realization of method has three ultrasonic converters and signal processing circuit determining level of medium. First ultrasonic converter is mounted on horizontal section of first measurement tube. Second and third converters are mounted on walls of second measurement tube. Instability of propagation of probing signal does not influence value of level of medium. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity of measurement results. 2 cl, 2 dwg
