FIELD: cleaning water reservoirs from radioactive and toxic wastes held in bottom-mounted containers randomly scattered and disintegrated with time and their disposal to land-based storage facilities. SUBSTANCE: torus container is manufactured on removable tray placed on floating platform. Then it is towed over water surface to point of location of wastes in water reservoir and fixed in position in opposite side of waste location; wastes are charged into torus container which is then hermetically sealed on water surface and towed on platform to wharf. Tray is removed from platform together with torus container and stored on wharf; platform is returned for reuse. Upon attaining sub-zero temperature, tray carrying torus container is towed over ice surface connecting wharf with caisson of land-based underground storage and disposed by deepening caisson through one story of storage. Ice surface is made by freezing. EFFECT: improved environmental friendliness. 3 cl
