FIELD: environmental control; cleaning water reservoirs from radioactive and toxic wastes stored in bottom-immersed packing containers disintegrated with time and their re-storage in reliable storage pits on ground. SUBSTANCE: torus container is made on floating platform by assembling prefabricated and pressurized annular reinforced-concrete members with joints between members sealed by cast-in-situ stressing concrete. Platform carrying torus container placed there without clamping annular member is conveyed to waste location site. After torus is filled up with wastes, platform is raised to surface and annular clamping member of torus is sealed with cast-in-situ stressing concrete. Then platform, together with wastes packed in torus container, is conveyed to storage site first over water reservoir surface and then over man-made water canal up to underground storage pit equipped with downtake well. Container is smoothly lowered in horizontal position onto downtake well, platform is returned to water reservoir for making next torus container, loading the latter with wastes, and conveying to storage site. In storing each next container, downtake well is deepened to form pit through storage floor height equal to outer diameter of annular reinforced-concrete torus member; cycle is repeated until storage of desired height and depth of pit is attained. EFFECT: facilitated procedure. 5 cl
