FIELD: production of mineral fiber from natural material of basalt group. SUBSTANCE: method consists in loading basalt to melting furnace, melting it, stabilization of glass mass in feeder at temperature of from 1250 to 1450 C and generation of fiber through feeders, drawing through spinneret, oiling and winding on bobbins. Prior to loading basalt to furnace, it is heated to 150 -900 C and melted glass mass is kept in stabilizing section of melting furnace to temperature tmelt+(50÷250°C). Device for realization of this method includes basalt proportioner, melting furnace, feeder with drain units, feeders, spinnerets and mechanisms for applying oil and winding the basalt on bobbins. Basalt proportioner is provided with heat exchanger connected with inside of furnace; melting furnace has melted glass mass stabilizing section connected with feeder; height of stabilizing section is equal to 0.4 - 0.6 of height of pool of furnace.
