FIELD: decontamination of radioactive surfaces. SUBSTANCE: method involves coating contaminated surface with sealing material followed by treating the surface with intensive heat radiation. To this end, heat-radiation source of specific power capacity not lower than 150 W/sq. cm is displaced along surface. Sealing coating material melts and vitreous coating is formed on surface upon ceasing heat radiation which fixes radionuclides inside this coating. Used as heat radiation source is usually laser with active crystal based on neodymium-yttrium-aluminum garnet. Concrete or metal surfaces can be treated by this method. Surface layers may be made of glass, ceramics, grog, etc. EFFECT: improved fixation or sealing of radionuclides on surface. 9 cl, 5 dwg
