FIELD: metallurgy; iron making; metal plating shaft furnaces, fluidized-bed reduction reactors, intermittent retorts, liquid-phase reduction furnaces, blast furnaces and other metallurgical units working under pressure. SUBSTANCE: stuffing box seal includes housing and sealing rings arranged in two and more groups. groups are engageable with surface of housing and technological equipment. Stuffing box seal includes also packing, gland, coupling bolts, gas shut-off seal and lubricating unit. Stuffing box seal may by also provided with cooling unit. Group of rings adjoining gas shut-off seal are engageable with working surfaces of check and technological equipment. Fitted between lubricating unit and gland are at least two groups of sealing rings and at least one third of all groups of sealing rings is fitted between gas shut-off seal and lubricating unit. Gas shut-off seal, lubricating unit and cooling unit are provided with pipe unions and shaped rings. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 2 dwg
