FIELD: hygienic means. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to absorbing foams for use as absorbents, in particular, as baby-liners absorbing and retaining aqueous body fluids. Such foams contain hydrophilic open-cell structures prepared preferably through polymerization of water-in-oil emulsion with high disperse phase. Oil phase contains styrene-based glasslike polymer, water-insoluble rubberlike comonomer, and bifunctional cross-linking agent. Such foam materials have pore volume of the order of 12 to 100 ml/g and specific surface of capillary suction of the order of 0.5 to 5.0 sq.m/g. These materials also possess adequate resistance to compression bend when saturated with artificial urine. EFFECT: improved hygienic properties. 10 cl, 4 dwg, 7 ex
