FIELD: plasma cutting in machine engineering, technical engineering, ship making, metallurgical branches of industry. SUBSTANCE: plasmatron having hollow electrode, cooling jacket, nozzle and swirler also includes housing of dielectric material, solenoid and metallic cylinder embracing it, both arranged in electrode cooling jacket. Plasmatron also includes contact terminal in the form of annular plate arranged at side of bottom of hollow electrode. Cooling jacket is restricted by inner surface of housing and outer surface of electrode. Hollow electrode is made of copper; cylinder and swirler are from ferromagnetic material. Outer lateral surface of hollow electrode, solenoid and cylinder are mounted with annular gaps. Solenoid is joined with terminal and swirler. EFFECT: improved design due to elimination of breakdown between housing, unions and electrode, enhanced operational period of plasmatron due to increased service life of electrode and nozzle. 2 cl, 1 dwg
