FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves selecting precursor crop and forming rotation elements. Method is based on evaluation of extent of allelopathic action (suppression) of precursor crop upon subsequent crop in rotation. The extent of allelopathic action is determined in the process of growing plants under laboratory conditions for 10-14 days at temperature of 25-28 C and continuous illumination with the intensity of 5,000 lux, and soil moisture content of 55-60% of full moisture capacity. Three extents of allelopathic action are defined: low extent at germination above 75%; average extent of 50-75%; high extent below 50%. Correct selection of precursor crop in rotation is based on correct determination of extent of allelopathic effect. EFFECT: increased rotation productivity by increased objectiveness during selection of precursor crop and forming rotation elements. 1 tbl
