FIELD: repair of rolling stock. SUBSTANCE: method involves subjecting wedge to plastic deformation by hammer in closed die by applying impact force to portions of inoperative surfaces of wedge between wedge worn surfaces, with metal being redistributed from inoperative surfaces to worn surfaces. Wedge is deformed by means of die with axial projections on portions of die and punch forming surfaces corresponding to portions positioned between wedge worn surfaces. Prior to plastic deformation, worn wedges are subjected to shotblasting. Upon pressing, wedge is subjected to thermal treatment including normalizing, quenching and tempering.
