FIELD: preparative biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves interaction of deoxyhemoglobin with bifunctional cross-linking agent in buffer solution at pH 6.8- -7.4 and at mole ratio hemoglobin : cross-linking agent = = 1: (4-24). Reaction is terminated by addition of the substance blocking the remained functional groups of cross-linking agent. Glutaric aldehyde is used as a cross-linking agent that is modified by the substance taken from an order involving dicarboxylic amino acid (for example, aspartic, glutamic amino acid) and sodium bisulfite. Modification is carried out by interaction of 0.1-4.0 wt. -% solutions of glutaric aldehyde and modifying agent at their molar ratio = 1:(0.2-1.2). Method ensures to carry out the modification of glutaric aldehyde rather than the parent hemoglobin as by the known methods.
