FIELD: transport engineering; electrical equipment of internal combustion engines; ignition systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed ignition system has ignition coil with primary winding connected to supply source through key element and secondary winding connected to spark plug. Pulse surge limiting circuit is made in form of additional winding of ignition coil featuring heavy magnetic coupling with primary winding and connected through diode to supply source. Primary and secondary winding of ignition coil are mounted on different legs of split magnetic circuit. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of system, enlarged operating capabilities. 6 cl, 3 dwg
