FIELD: electrical equipment of forced-ignition internal-combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: method involves application of supply voltage across primary winding of ignition coil in response to ignition signal by connecting it to charged storage capacitor through transistor switch, monitoring of instant value of current through primary winding, and opening of its power circuit as soon as current has risen to its peak value; reverse-polarity pulse current is allowed to flow, and then power circuit is closed again as soon as initial polarity of current is recovered. Primary-current monitoring device has two current transformers whose primary windings are series- connected to storage-capacitor charging circuit and its secondary windings are inserted in transistor switch control circuit; one of transformers is designed for linear current conversion and other is meant to function as null-indicator whose magnetic core reverses its magnetization from one saturated state to other. EFFECT: improved reliability of ignition system. 4 cl, 2 dwg
