FIELD: sorption techniques, particularly, methods of production of granulated activated carbon applicable in cleaning of gases and liquids from harmful impurities and also for other industrial and environmental control purposes. SUBSTANCE: method includes mixing at temperature of 30-60 C of finely divided coal raw material with addition of basalt fiber in amount of 0.5- 2.5 wt.% and resinous binder; granulation of mixture at temperature of 60-100 C and pressure of 80-100 kg/sq.cm; cooling of granules to room temperature; carbonization of granules, first, at heating rate of 10-25 C/min for 12-24 min, then, with heating rate of 2-5 C/min to temperature of 450-650 C, and granule activation to total volume of pores of 0.6-0.9 cu.cm/g. EFFECT: higher mechanical strength of granulated activated carbon. 1 tbl
