FIELD: agriculture, veterinary science, virology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing antigens for diagnosis and prophylaxis of animal viral sicknesses. Monolayer-suspension strain of cultured cells SPEV-17/91 is obtained by treatment of the parent pig embryo renal cells culture with supermutagens, selection and adaptation to semisynthetic nutrient media. Obtained strain shows stable cultural and morphological properties. Strain shows sensitivity to foot-and-mouth virus, viruses VBS, BG, BA, EN, VES and plague KRS, it reproduces cells in monolayer and in suspension at titers 5.0-7.5 lg TCD50. Strain is deposited in museum of cells VNIIZZH, deposited at 35-th passage in suspension in VSKK (SKHZH) RASKH at N 43. EFFECT: enhanced proliferative activity of the strain, prolonged safety of cellular layer, increased yield of cellular mass and virus-containing material, high infectious activity. 11 tbl, 15 ex
