FIELD: mechanical engineering; exhaust gas cleaning. SUBSTANCE: proposed catalyst has housing, inlet device and outlet device. Housing has catalytic devices with at least two packs of sheet members. Inlet device communicates with inner space between packs and has the same shape of cross-section at its mouth and the same sizes of cross section as inner space. Inner space has at least one free area whose cross-section area decreases from side of inlet device. Outlet device is connected with outer space located between inner surface sections of housing and catalytic devices. Each pack of sheet members limits passages diverging in cross section to different sides from inner space to outer space. This provides adaptability of housing shape to place. EFFECT: improved aerodynamic and cold starting characteristics of catalyst, cut down cost of manufacture. 24 cl, 21 dwg
