METHOD FOR CREATION OF LOAD-BEARING ICE PLATFORM Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: ice utilization technology. SUBSTANCE: method can be used for creation of platform on ice surface intended for moving of transportation vehicles and/or for storage of loads. According to method, creation of load-bearing platform consists in building up stiffening ribs on ice surface. Stiffening ribs are formed by making grooves in ice cover in at least one direction. After that, thus formed ice surface is subjected to effect of subzero temperatures as to Celsius scale during period which is required for formation of outgrowths under ice at places where grooves are made. Thickness of outgrowths is equal to thickness of ice cover. Realization of aforesaid method allows for building of ice platform with rigidity ensuring safety travel on it of transportation vehicles and creating reliable conditions for storing of cargo.
