FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; applicable in production of grain-oriented electrical steels. SUBSTANCE: method includes melting in metallurgical unit of steel containing carbon, silicon, magnesia, aluminium soluble in acid, copper, nitrogen, sulfur; steel casting; subsequent hot rolling with slab heating to temperature of 1230-1270 C; cold rolling to required final thickness of steel strips and heat treatment with application of heat-resistant and electrically insulating coatings. Depending on required final thickness of steel strip, aluminium-nitrogen content ratio in steel is maintained within 0.9-1.6. Preferably, steel strip final thickness is within 0.23-0.35 mm, With strip thickness reduction for every 0.01 mm, beginning from 0.35 mm, aluminium-nitrogen content ratio is to be reduced by 0.05. Required aluminium-nitrogen content ratio in steel is maintained within specified interval by additional introduction into steel of nitrogen in steel casting due to supply onto melt of nitrogen-argon gas mixture. EFFECT: optimized conditions of formation of addition system in semifinished rolled stock of anisotropic steel intended for production of ready metal of different thickness value. 3 cl, 1 tbl
