FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, composition and method of production of anisotropic electrical steel. SUBSTANCE: anisotropic electrical steel contains the following amounts of components, wt.%: silicon 2.6-3.6; copper 0.4-0.6; manganese 0.3-0.5; the balance, iron and inevitable impurities. Method of production of anisotropic electrical steel includes melting of steel, continuous casting, hot rolling, two-stage or one-stage cold rolling, decarbonization, high- temperature and straightening annealing. In steel melting, carbon content is corrected depending on content of manganese within (0.30-0.50) wt.% in compliance with expression C=(0.095-015 Mn) ± 0.005, where C and Mn are contents of carbon and manganese, respectively, wt.%. EFFECT: improved quality of prime layer, stabilization and improvement of absolute level of magnetic properties of anisotropic steel produced by nitride version of technology. 3 cl, 3 tbl
