FIELD: mining; applicable is safety mining of thick inclined outburst-prone seams of coal by shearers. SUBSTANCE: panels are worked by slices downward and slices are extracted by pillars along the strike upward and through every other one over entire area of panel. In this case, pillars adjacent to worked out ones are temporarily retained, and depth is determined of zone pressed out by rock pressure or artificially loosened by blast in which new belt headings run with concurrent extraction of coal. Then, coal is won from temporarily retained pillars above new belt headings, and fracturing in roof in front of breakage faces is observed from these headings for subsequent roof caving with rock sliding over fracture sides. Underlying slices are worked under caved rocks of upper slice roof and coal intercalations of overlying slices. EFFECT: higher efficiency and safety of mining of thick inclined outburst-prone seams in panel. 2 cl, 2 dwg
