METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF RECTIFIED ALCOHOL Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: alcohol production. SUBSTANCE: alcohol is digested from brew in brew column to transfer ethyl alcohol and accompanied admixtures into brew distillate with column vapors and liquid fractions from condenser of carbon dioxide separator and alcohol collector. Brew distillate is freed from head impurities in closed column fed and heated with vapor from brew column. Epuration of brew distillate is conducted in epuration column which receives hot water onto its upper tray. From condenser of this column, head and intermediate fractions including fusel oil fractions are withdrawn. Epurate is subjected to rectification in alcohol column to run off fusel oil, fusel alcohol, and non-pasteurized alcohol fractions. Methanol and head impurities are digested from head fractions in the top zone of distillation column, concentrated on upper trays of this column and in its dephlegmator, whereas head fraction concentrate is withdrawn from condenser. Ethyl alcohol is additionally purified by removing head and intermediate fraction concentrate from condenser of closed column receiving onto its upper tray hot water, a part of fraction from epuration column condenser, and fraction from condenser of carbon dioxide separator and alcohol collector. Vapor concentrate from brew preheater is fed into middle part of epuration column. Distillation of fractions containing fusel oil, methanol, head and intermediate impurities is carried out in distillation column receiving, into its bottom zone, fusel oil and fusel alcohol fractions from alcohol column and the second part of fraction from epuration column condenser. Fusel oil is isolated from vapor phase taken off from 5-11 trays. Ethyl alcohol fraction is run off from middle part of distillation column and returned into brew.
