FIELD: oxidation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysts based on nickel stabilized with activated aluminum oxide that can be used in redox processes for fine cleaning of process gases from carbon oxides and oxygen and for creating protective atmospheres by dissociating ammonia. Preparation procedure includes: mixing basic nickel carbonate with activated aluminum oxide, or calcium aluminate, or high-silica cement, and/or aluminum oxide-calcium aluminate mixture; adding aqueous ammonia solution; drying; calcination; and mixing catalyst material with graphite. According to invention, catalyst paste is dried for 6-8 h in presence of water steam at pressure 0.5 MPa at temperature 90-100 C that is controlled by varying steam intake, and calcination is carried out in the following way: temperature in calcining kiln is raised with a rate from 80 to 100 C/h to 380-450 c and kept at this temperature for 8-9 h. EFFECT: extended choice of starting materials and increased catalyst activity.
