FIELD: railway construction and maintenance. SUBSTANCE: according to method, railway track is temporarily lifted to required position and is ballasted in stages. Process of ballasting is combined with advance movement in direction of working motion. After that, rail track is stabilized by subjecting it to vibration motions in horizontal direction in perpendicular to longitudinal axis of rail track. Simultaneously, rail track is subjected to vertical load so as to ensure settling of rail track and then it is lowered to required position behind ballasted rail track in direction of travel. Simultaneously with aforesaid process of ballasting and forward advancement, rail track is lowered stage-by-stage to required position. This is accompanied with automatic raising of aforesaid vertical load to settling value. Then, loading value is reduced to zero. Application of aforesaid method allows for enhancing efficiency of ballasting process together with reducing labour-input. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 6 cl, 9 dwg
