FIELD: welding and fusion, possibly restoring rolling surfaces, for example of ridges of wheel pairs of electric train locomotives, cargo and passenger cars of railway road transport vehicles, underground cars and others from low-alloy high- carbon steels. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of gas-shield welding by means of meltable austenite electrode; additionally introducing into crystallized part of welding bath heated additive; spacing electrode from said heated additive by distance equal to (0,3-0,5)L, where l - length of welding bath; introducing additive in quantity equal to (0.2-0.4) of electrode mass; heating up additive until plastic state by means of stable power source for heating additive without causing additional disturbances in welding bath and eliminating occurrence of arc discharge between additive and welding bath. EFFECT: significantly reduced trend of welded joints to cold cracking due to use of austenite welding materials and comparatively small power typical for gas-shield welding. 1 dwg, 1 ex
