SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method of large-scale production of thrombin-containing composition of therapeutic purity degree, an excellent safety and stability in storage. Method involves purification of crude thrombin treated with an antiviral composition by ion-exchange chromatography on a single column using sulfalkyl-activated polysaccharide, in part, sulfopropyl-Spherodex® as ion-exchange medium and increasing concentrations of phosphate buffer as an eluent. After isolation of thrombin from the final eluate phosphate buffer is replaced with stabilizing composition buffer and stabilized thrombin is subjected for an antiviral filtration and optional treatment by dry heat for the further inactivation of viruses.
