FIELD: metallurgy, namely process for continuous casting at simultaneous deformation of billets of hard-to-form metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of introducing belts to mold without melting belts; forming solidified skin only on mold walls of second pair performing reciprocation motion; deforming billet after joining skins in widened upper portion of working cavity of mold at relation of height "h" from lower point of skin joining until outlet from widened working cavity to width "b" of billet along walls of first pair h/b= 0.2-0.5. Relation of side dimensions of billet in outlet of mold b/a =0.5-1, where b - width of billet along walls of first pair, a- width of billet along walls of second pair. Apparatus for performing the method includes drums for introducing two belts in vertical mold and means for pressing belts to surface of walls. Lengthwise water cooled ducts are provided only in walls of second pair. Changeable inserts are mounted on surface of walls of first pair in upper widened portion. Relation of heat conductivity factors of metal of second-pair walls λ2 and of material of working layer of changeable insert λ1 is equal λ2/λ1=(250-300). Changeable insert has metallic base and working layer with strain gauge. EFFECT: enhanced quality of surface and inner structure of billets of hard-to-form metals. 4 cl, 3 dwg
