FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: charge consisting of vanadium-containing slag/ferrosilicium/coke mixture is loaded into steel-smelting arch furnace, melted, and smelt is tapped from furnace. Slag is obtained from converter or from open-hearth furnace. Amounts of coke and ferrosilicium are specified within a range of 0.05 to 0.15 depending on amount of vanadium-containing slag in the charge. Once charge is melted, mixture of vanadium-containing slag and aluminum is added into furnace in amounts 0.9-1.0 the weight of charge to provide weight ratio of components to be equal to (0.13-0.20): 1. Before tapping, additional aluminum is added in amounts 0.02 to 0.06 the total weight of slag. EFFECT: increased vanadium recovery and reduced power consumption. 1 tbl
