FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: hydrocarbon stock after hydrofining stage is subjected to hydrogenation processing effected by bringing it into contact with bifunctional catalyst, in particular, modified zeolite or element-alumino-silicate from the following structural types: ZSM-12, BETA, L, and SAPO-11. Modification is effected by II, VI and VIII group metals. Zeolites should bear aprotic acid sites with frequency of absorption of adsorbed carbon monoxide (i) 2210-2230 cm-1 and concentration of aprotic acid sites 50-90 mcmol/l and (ii) 1160-1180 and 20-40, respectively. Element-alumino- silicates should, respectively, have (i) 2210 and 50-100 and (ii) 1200- 1220 and 30-50. EFFECT: extended source of starting materials and simplified process. 5 cl, 3 tbl, 6 ex
