FIELD: acceleration engineering, mass spectrometry, and the like. SUBSTANCE: method involves vacuum heating of mixture of two salts of particular metal, namely, halides, carbonates, or nitrates, to evaporation temperature and passing vapors obtained through tube to tungsten ionizator surface heated to ionization temperature of alkali metal. Salts are taken in proportion not over 1:2. Ion beams of alkali metals are produced in the course of many cycles without failure of device saving 15% of power consumed. EFFECT: improved reliability of device, reduced power requirement.
